Self Guided Escarpment Track Hike, Kāpiti Coast with Transfers & Lunch

We’ll collect you from your chosen meeting point and start the day by collecting a classic Wellington coffee to enjoy on the guided scenic 45-minute drive to the trailhead. On arrival, we’ll send you off with plenty of water, snacks, a picnic lunch and sunscreen.
Your hike follows the Escarpment Track – part of the legendary Te Araroa Trail. The walk is 9.1km, reaching 220m above sea level in places and takes around 3 hours, depending on fitness and pace! This hike is not for the faint-hearted, climbing 1200 steps along the route.
Soak up stunning views of the Kāpiti Coast and Kāpiti Island, with time for a classic kiwi morning tea, lunch and the chance to take plenty of amazing photos.
Your walk finishes in a charming coastal village, where refreshments await (own cost), and maybe even a dip in the ocean, before you head back to the city - a chance to retrace your steps on the ridgeline above, with a true sense of achievement after conquering the iconic Stairway to Heaven.
For those with energy and time to spare, the adventure doesn’t have to end at the northbound finish. You’re welcome to walk back in the opposite direction, then simply arrange for us to collect you when you are ready to return to the city!
